Perhaps I should’ve titled this, where has the week gone? I had high intentions at the beginning of the week to post every day. However, with the changes due to hurricane Melissa, my workload, and activities on the ship, the week has gotten away from me. This isn’t a bad thing. I’ve been able to relax and recharge slightly in the midst of all of my regular work.
This cruise’s original itinerary had stops at Grand Turk Island in the Turks and Caicos; Amber Cove located in the Dominican Republic; Nassau, Bahamas, and Celebration Key – Carnival’s resort destination on Grand Bahama Island. As we boarded on Sunday, we were notified that the Grand Turk and Amber Cove stops had been replaced with a sea day and a stop at Cozumel, Mexico due to Melissa. This was done to avoid interacting with hurricane Melissa at all. Some people were upset that we weren’t going to those two destinations; however, we all were thankful that we wouldn’t be anywhere near the storm.
In the evening after leaving Cozumel, the captain came on the intercom and informed us that we would be stopping in Miami the next morning on the way to the Bahamas to let off a passenger who needed medical attention. This was handled quickly and swiftly the next day. We arrived in Miami before 6 AM, and by 6:30 AM we were already turning around and heading back out. Prayers for the person who had to be taken off the ship.
Because the Bahamas is so close to southern Florida, after racing to Miami the afternoon and evening before, we casually meandered in Atlantic on our way to Nassau. It became obvious we weren’t moving very fast when we could still see the Florida coastline that afternoon.

I’ll try to complete the page on Cozumel and add a post with information on the ship I am on in the next couple of days.
