Side to side

In the cruising world side to side refers to a passenger getting off one cruise ship and then walking to another ship at the same port and getting on a different ship. Yesterday, I did side to side. I left the Carnival Celebration and boarded the Carnival Horizon.

Side to side cruises don’t give you the same benefits as a back-to-back cruise. However, if you need a different itinerary or a different time frame, a side to side option could extend your vacation without adding to the travel cost getting to the port.

This cruise was originally supposed to stop at Ocho Rios, Jamaica. However, they have not recovered enough to welcome tourists after Hurricane Melissa. We will be stopping there to deliver relief supplies, but no passengers will be allowed off the ship. Carnival has pledged money towards hurricane relief efforts in Jamaica.
